Tragic Accident: FlixBus involved in deadly crash on German motorway close to Leipzig

A tragic motorway crash involving a FlixBus coach near Leipzig, Germany, has left four people dead and 35 others injured. The accident occurred on the busy A9 autobahn, where the coach veered to the right and overturned. The bus, which was en route from Berlin to Nuremberg on its way to Zurich, had two drivers and 52 passengers on board.

Authorities in Saxony expressed their condolences to the victims of the crash. Initial reports suggested five fatalities, but police later confirmed four deaths and one person in critical condition. Six individuals sustained serious injuries, while 29 others received minor injuries.

FlixBus, a long-distance coach service company founded in Munich in 2011, operates in Europe, America, and Asia. The company confirmed that the accident took place around 10:00 local time on the north-south A9 motorway near Leipzig/Halle Airport.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, as no other vehicles were involved. Rescue helicopters and numerous ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and local hospitals were prepared for a major emergency. The autobahn was temporarily closed near the Schkeuditzer Kreuz interchange.

This tragic incident is not the first on the A9 motorway near Leipzig, with previous coach accidents occurring in the past. The community mourns the loss of those affected by this devastating event.
