RICHMOND, Va. (March 1, 2024) – The CAA Women’s Basketball teams showcased their resilience on Friday night as visiting teams secured wins in all six conference matchups. Stony Brook and North Carolina A&T emerged victorious, setting the stage for a highly anticipated first-place showdown on Long Island this Sunday. William & Mary climbed into a tie for third place with a statement victory, while Towson and Campbell also notched crucial wins in the competitive conference race. Additionally, Hampton broke a seven-game losing streak with a hard-fought win. 

Stony Brook 60, Drexel 58 | Box Score
Sherese Pittman’s stellar 22-point performance in the second half propelled Stony Brook (22-3, 13-2 CAA) to a thrilling 60-58 triumph over Drexel (12-14, 7-8 CAA). Victoria Keenan and Shamarla King provided valuable contributions off the bench with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Despite facing a 19-point deficit in the third quarter, Stony Brook staged a remarkable comeback with a strong finish, including a game-changing three-pointer by Pittman at the buzzer. The Seawolves carried this momentum into the final quarter, outscoring Drexel to secure the win. Amaris Baker led Drexel with 21 points in a closely contested battle. 

North Carolina A&T 69, Northeastern 55 | Box Score
North Carolina A&T’s balanced scoring attack, led by Chaniya Clark’s double-double, powered them to a 69-55 road victory over Northeastern. A&T’s dominance in the third quarter, highlighted by a 19-0 run, sealed the win as they maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the game. Derin Erdogan and Deja Bristol stood out for Northeastern with solid performances, but they couldn’t overcome A&T’s strong showing. 

William & Mary 68, UNCW 50 | Box Score
William & Mary’s third consecutive win was fueled by Anahi-Lee Cauley’s impressive 15-point display. The Tribe led from start to finish, controlling the game with a balanced scoring effort. Kylah Silver shined for UNCW with 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome W&M’s dominance. 

Towson 67, Charleston 55 | Box Score
Towson’s sharpshooting and strong rebounding guided them to a fourth consecutive victory as they defeated Charleston 67-55. Patricia Anumgba led the charge with 22 points, supported by Kylie Kornegay-Lucas and Quinzia Fulmore. Jada Logan impressed for Charleston, but Towson’s resilient performance secured the win. 

Campbell 66, Delaware 65 | Box Score
Campbell’s efficient shooting and balanced scoring propelled them to a narrow 66-65 triumph over Delaware. Shy Tuelle and Gemma Nuñez led the way for Campbell, while Chloe Wilson starred for Delaware in a closely contested matchup. 

Hampton 48, Hofstra 42 | Box Score
In a defensive battle, Hampton emerged victorious over Hofstra with strong defensive play and efficient shooting. Camryn Hill’s impressive performance paced Hampton to a hard-fought win. Sorelle Ineza led the effort for Hofstra, but they couldn’t overcome Hampton’s solid performance.
