Jun Kim is the director of Technology for Moore public schools outside Oklahoma City making data privacy his top priority. As part of his role, Kim has established a statewide clearinghouse of platforms, applications, and programs vetted for data-privacy practices to ensure student and staff data remains secure. He also holds the title of the fourth largest suburban school district in the state, providing substantial technology support for 25,600 students through 37 full-time staff members and six high school student interns. In 2013, following his deployment in Afghanistan, Kim faced a different challenge when a tornado hit the Moore district. He coordinated the recovery and rebuilding of the district’s technology infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of data security. Kim’s work is a reflection of his strong leadership style with a balance of humor and take-action approach, and his commitment to ensuring data security in the age of artificial intelligence.
