Key lessons from technology training for senior citizens in the community

Highland County Community Action Organization has been making strides in providing valuable “Digital Literacy” trainings to seniors in the Highland County area. These trainings have been offered on various days and times to ensure accessibility for all interested individuals.

One of the key highlights of the training sessions has been the introduction of useful smartphone features such as “The Long Hold” and “Side Swiping.” Participants were amazed to learn how holding down their finger on a phone application icon can reveal additional options and settings, while swiping from the edge of the screen towards the middle can bring up additional settings on their devices.

Moreover, seniors were educated on the benefits of the national Do Not Call list as a means of reducing unwanted sales and scam calls. Those interested in registering for the list can visit www.donotcall.gov and follow the simple process to add their number.

This initiative is part of the “Introduction to Technology” trainings sponsored by Highland County Community Action Agency and the Highland County Commissioners. Upcoming trainings are scheduled at various local libraries, with no registration required and all events being free to attend.

The project aims to empower senior citizens in Highland County with the necessary digital skills to navigate the modern world. The support from the Highland County Commissioners and funding from the Ohio Healthy Aging Grant has been instrumental in making these trainings possible.

Join us at the upcoming trainings and embark on your journey to digital literacy. See you there!
