High School Quarterback Danny O’Neil narrows college choices to three schools
Highly-regarded high school quarterback Danny O’Neil from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis has narrowed his list of college choices to Northwestern, Miami (Fla.), and San Diego State. Ranked as the nation’s No. 34 high school quarterback prospect by 247Sports.com, O’Neil is expected to make a decision before the NCAA’s early signing period begins on December 20.
O’Neil, who previously committed to Colorado in March, decommitted from the school after head coach Sean Lewis, who O’Neil had built a relationship with, was hired by SDSU. The young athlete is considering following Lewis to SDSU, citing the coach’s character and football knowledge as reasons for potentially choosing the school.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback, who set numerous records at Cathedral during his tenure, expressed his eagerness to graduate early and enroll in college next month to accelerate his development as a player.
While O’Neil has aspirations to start as a true freshman, he is also open to taking a redshirt year to further enhance his skills before stepping onto the field.
