Apple’s first “spatial computer”, the Vision Pro, has been well-received by both reviewers and consumers despite its drawbacks. With complaints about weight and eye strain from some users, many are eagerly anticipating the release of the successor to the Vision Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the launch of the new device is expected in the second half of 2026, a wait of at least 18 months.
Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter suggests that the Vision Pro successor is still a work in progress and challenging to use on a daily basis. While the wait may seem long for Apple enthusiasts, it offers the tech giant time to address the drawbacks of its first-generation mixed reality headset. It is unclear whether the new device will be an incremental or major upgrade, and information about the much-rumored more affordable version is also lacking.
Previously, Gurman stated that the team working on the Vision Pro believed the device was “four generations” away from its ideal form. Despite its current drawbacks, the Vision Pro is in high demand, being sold unofficially outside the United States for as much as $5,000. With the 2026 release date on the horizon, Apple fans are eagerly anticipating the potential improvements and innovations the successor to the Vision Pro will bring.
