A young missionary from Sugar City, serving in the New Jersey Morristown Mission, tragically passed away after experiencing a medical emergency on Saturday morning. The missionary, identified as Elder Mack Jared Chappell, was just 19 years old. Despite efforts to save him, he did not survive, and the cause of his death is currently under investigation.

Sam Penrod, a spokesperson for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, released a statement expressing profound sadness at the loss of Elder Chappell. He began his mission in July 2023, and the church community is mourning his untimely death.

“Our prayers are with Elder Chappell’s family, friends, and fellow missionaries during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the Savior and His gospel as they remember this dedicated missionary,” the church newsroom website shared.
