This edition of Pharmacy Practice in Focus: Health Systems marks a significant milestone as we welcome our first manuscript to undergo peer review prior to publication. The featured case report describes the management and outcome of a combined insecticide and cannabis exposure, a common toxicology presentation in health-system emergency departments. This is just the beginning, as future editions will include multiple peer-reviewed articles on original observational research and novel case reports related to drug use in health systems.
Authors are encouraged to submit their work to Pharmacy Practice in Focus: Health Systems under various categories, including original research, systematic reviews, narrative reviews, and case reports related to medication-related outcomes, professional practice, quality, safety, and adverse event experiences. Manuscripts adhering to well-accepted publication standards available at the EQUATOR Network will undergo a timely peer-review process, enhancing the likelihood of final publication. Additionally, submitting high-quality manuscripts to this journal presents an excellent opportunity for trainees, including students and residents, to share their work under the guidance of their mentors.
The editorial staff is also seeking qualified experts in health-system pharmacy or related disciplines to serve as peer reviewers. If interested, please contact managing editor Alana Hippensteele at ahippensteele@mjhlifesciences.com, including your affiliation, areas of expertise, and brief qualifications. Peer review also presents an excellent opportunity to teach literature evaluation skills to trainees by involving them in a mentored peer review.
Including peer-reviewed articles in each issue of this journal will enhance its value to health-system pharmacists. We eagerly anticipate the submission of high-quality articles with broad interest, supporting the critique and improvement of article quality through an effective peer-review process.
