Fedrigoni Organizes “Special Papers” Division into Four Business Units

After a successful year and a series of acquisitions, the Fedrigoni Group, a leading global paper manufacturer, has reported sales of EUR 2.3 billion in 2022. This achievement comes on the heels of the company’s restructuring, with the Speciality Papers division being organized into four Business units to optimize growth. With almost 5,000 employees in 28 countries, the Group’s sales are divided between its Labels and Speciality Papers divisions, with EUR 1.3 billion and EUR 1 billion in sales, respectively.

The Luxury Ecosystem business unit, based in Paris, focuses on providing speciality papers for the luxury industry for packaging and communication. According to Ilan Schinazi, the Sales Director of Fedrigoni Papers, the company aims to expand its reach in the North American and Asian markets to increase its sales within the next three years.

The Creative Communication business unit is dedicated to providing creative papers for the publishing and creative communication industries and accounts for almost 40% of the Group’s sales. Meanwhile, the Technical Solutions business unit focuses on highly specialized products, such as RFID and smart papers, and aims to develop markets for hotel room key cards and gift cards.

Additionally, the Art and Drawing business unit represents the wide range of drawing papers produced by the historic Fabriano factory in southern Italy.

Fedrigoni has recently completed three acquisitions, further consolidating its geographical presence, technological development, and commitment to a plastic-to-paper strategy. This strategy is underscored by the company’s recent acquisitions of the Guarro Casas Arjowiggins plant in Spain and the Arjowiggins plant in China, which specializes in tracing paper production.

Furthermore, Fedrigoni has acquired SharpEnd, a UK-based agency specializing in RFID Technology, and Eclose, an Italian company that manufactures cellulose-based pulp wedges and packaging. These acquisitions align with the Group’s commitment to innovative and sustainable paper solutions.

In a bid to secure sourcing, Fedrigoni has signed an agreement with a leading player from Brazil, the world’s largest producer of short-fiber paper pulp. The supplier is committed to environmental sustainability through reforestation efforts.

As the company looks ahead to the future, Fedrigoni’s director, Ilan Schinazi, expresses confidence in the Group’s continued success. With a strong start to 2024 and the inauguration of its innovation center in Verona dedicated to high-end papers, Fedrigoni is well-equipped to meet the growing demand for value-added speciality papers in the luxury sector.

Historically, Fedrigoni’s commitment to innovation and sustainability has been a driving force in its success. The Group’s focus on developing market-leading products has positioned it as a key player in the global paper industry.

In conclusion, Fedrigoni’s recent achievements reflect its dedication to advancing the paper industry through strategic acquisitions, sustainable sourcing, and innovative product development. As the luxury sector continues to demand high-quality speciality papers, Fedrigoni is poised to meet this demand with its newly reorganized business units and cutting-edge innovation center.
