Danny Jones, the guitarist and singer of McFly, has been declared the winner of the popular ITV1 reality singing competition, The Masked Singer. He was revealed as the celebrity beneath the Piranha costume in the final episode that aired on Saturday night.

Jones emerged as the victor after competing against two other contestants, Cricket and Bigfoot, who were later revealed to be the singer Lemar and TV presenter Alex Brooker, respectively. Lemar was the first to perform and have his identity unveiled, leaving only two contestants for the final battle.

The talented musician, who has appeared on reality singing shows before, including Popstar to Operastar in 2010, wowed the judges with his rendition of Lay Me Down by Sam Smith. Panellist Jonathan Ross even went as far as to say that he believed it was “the best performance… of any series.”

Notably, Jones is the third McFly member to win a reality television show, following Harry Judd’s win on Strictly Come Dancing and Dougie Poynter’s victory on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The final episode also featured performances from former contestants including Charlotte Church, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson, and Natalie Appleton. Special guest panellist Rob Brydon joined regular judges Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan.

The Masked Singer has become a phenomenon, with mystery performers singing popular songs while wearing elaborate face masks and costumes that conceal their identities. The panel of judges must guess who the performers are based solely on their vocal stylings and cryptic hints given in a distorted voice.

Previous winners of the show include Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts as Queen Bee, songwriter Joss Stone as Sausage, pop star Natalie Imbruglia as Panda, and Busted’s Charlie Simpson as Rhino.

The Masked Singer has drawn a large and dedicated audience worldwide, making it one of the most popular reality television competitions in recent years.

Jones’ victory in The Masked Singer solidifies his status as a versatile and skilled performer within the Entertainment industry.
