On December 1, 2023, Dream Big Union Bridge hosted the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at The Square in Union Bridge. The event was a festive affair, with Santa and a duck starting the countdown to light the tree. Delegate Eric Bouchat also spoke at the event, adding to the holiday cheer.
Attendees were treated to performances by the Elmer Wolfe Elementary School Chorus and the Francis Scott Key High School Choir. There was also a live nativity scene, featuring shepherds reacting to a bright star and three kings entering singing as part of the theatrical production.
Local musician Alex Myers entertained the crowd with guitar and singing, while Cody Beard shielded a candle from the wind during a musical performance. The culmination of the event was the lighting of the tree, with the lights sparkling against the night sky.
This annual tradition brings the community together to celebrate the holiday season. It’s a cherished event that has been a part of Union Bridge’s history for many years, and it continues to bring joy and festive spirit to all who attend. The event also provided free hot chocolate, hot cider, and cookies to further add to the warmth and joy of the holiday season.
