Buc-ee’s has started hiring for first Colorado location, expects store to open in March

Colorado’s First Buc-ee’s to Open in Johnstown

Construction is underway for Colorado’s first Buc-ee’s, set to open in early 2023. The Texas-based company, known for its expansive convenience stores and gas stations, is building a 74,000 square foot store in Johnstown. This location will be the company’s first planned store outside of the South and the furthest west. Boasting 120 gas pumps, it will be one of the biggest Buc-ee’s stores.

Jeff Nadalo, Buc-ee’s general counsel, confirmed that the store is scheduled to open in March, with hiring already underway for approximately 400 positions. The store offers competitive pay ranging from $18 to $22 per hour, with three weeks of paid time off and benefits including medical, dental, and a 6% matching 401(k) contribution after one year of employment.

Buc-ee’s strategically selects locations with a focus on attracting families and vacationers, as well as having a strong employee base. Northern Colorado, being one of the state’s fastest-growing regions, fits this criteria. Notably, Buc-ee’s travel centers do not accommodate 18-wheelers and aim to cater to passenger vehicles.

Buc-ee’s stores are renowned for their extensive merchandise and food options, including Texas barbecue, freshly baked pastries, and their famous beaver nuggets. Additionally, the company has garnered attention for its exceptionally clean bathrooms, winning the “America’s Best Restroom Award” in 2012.

As the construction progresses, Buc-ee’s anticipates the Johnstown store to be a thriving addition to the community, offering employment opportunities and a unique shopping and dining experience for residents and visitors alike. Subscribe to our Economy Now newsletter for more Business news.
