Putting God First in Our Holiday Celebrations with Chris Roemer

As a child, I remember receiving a plethora of Christmas gifts, including Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, Lite Brite, and Rock’em Sock’em Robots. However, one of the most memorable gifts I received was “Tony the Pony,” a battery-operated horse that provided hours of Entertainment.

Looking back, the tradition of abundant Christmas presents for my children and the elaborate meals and decorations seemed to overshadow the true meaning of Christmas. As the secular aspects of the holiday took precedence, I regret not always prioritizing the spiritual significance of the season.

The holiday season should serve as a time to remember and honor the profound act of love by an infinitely loving God in sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. While there is nothing wrong with giving Christmas presents or putting up a Christmas tree, it is essential to ensure that Christ remains central to our celebrations. Without Him, we deny the Savior the honor and glory He deserves.

In conclusion, let us remember the words of King Solomon, “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Wishing you all a Christ-filled and Merry Christmas!
