A regional law firm recently hosted an event at the new HB Allen Centre in Keble College, Oxford, to celebrate women’s achievements in science and Technology on International Women’s Day. The event, sponsored by Critchleys Chartered Accountants, brought together industry leaders, Business owners, and members of Oxford’s academic community to recognize and support the contributions of women in STEM fields.
Over 80 attendees gathered to network, share ideas, and acknowledge the unique perspectives that women bring to the science and technology sectors. The event highlighted female achievement and innovation across various industries, aligning with the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day – ‘#InspireInclusion for the forging of a better, inclusive world for women’.
Distinguished speakers at the event included Professor Eleanor Barnes, a professor of hepatology and experimental medicine at the University of Oxford, and Sharon Parker-Lines, deputy managing director at Astroscale, among others. Attendees praised the success of the event in celebrating International Women’s Day and supporting the charity Maths4Girls.
Maths4Girls focuses on encouraging young girls to excel in mathematics and consider careers in STEM fields. Juliette Buet, project lead at Maths4Girls, expressed gratitude for the platform provided by Gardner Leader and Critchleys to showcase their work. Sally Addis, partner at Gardner Leader, highlighted the importance of supporting initiatives like Maths4Girls that inspire the next generation to explore opportunities in STEM subjects.
Representatives from Critchleys also expressed pride in being part of the ‘Inspire Inclusion’ event, acknowledging the talent and inspiration present in Oxfordshire. Overall, the event underscored the commitment of Gardner Leader to fostering progress and growth in the life sciences sector.
