President Joe Biden continued to widen his fundraising lead over former President Donald Trump in February, according to new campaign filings. Biden’s political operation reported having $71 million in available cash at the end of February, more than double the $33.5 million held by Trump’s campaign. The filings also showed that the Democratic National Committee had more than double the cash on hand compared to the Republican National Committee.
Trump’s campaign saw an uptick in donations in February, bringing in $20.3 million, but still fell short of Biden’s fundraising efforts. Trump’s legal bills alone exceeded the amount of money his leadership PAC received last month, highlighting the financial strain caused by his ongoing legal issues.
Meanwhile, Robert Kennedy Jr.’s independent White House bid faced scrutiny from Democrats, with an allied super PAC spending heavily to support his campaign. Kennedy’s super PAC, American Values 2024, reported spending nearly $8.8 million in February, including a significant amount on advertising and ballot-access efforts.
Trump’s aligned super PAC, MAGA Inc., received a boost in donations, including a $5 million contribution from hotelier Robert Bigelow. Trump also signed a joint fundraising agreement with the national and state Republican parties to bolster his leadership PAC, Save America, which has been using funds to cover legal expenses.
Overall, the new campaign filings underscored Biden’s fundraising dominance over Trump and Kennedy in February, as the presidential contenders geared up for the general Election showdown. As the race for the White House progresses, the financial advantage held by Biden’s campaign may continue to play a crucial role in shaping the outcome of the election.
