President Joe Biden signed into law a $1.2 trillion legislation on Saturday, completing the funding for federal agencies through the fiscal year ending September 30.

The House approved the package on Friday, and the Senate followed suit early Saturday morning.

The bill addresses critical government operations including the departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, State, and the legislative branch.

President Biden received the bill in Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday and stated it is a “compromise” but good news for the American people.

Biden mentioned in the statement that the agreement represents a compromise and rejects extreme cuts while investing in child care, cancer research, and mental health.

The president highlighted the resources allocated for securing the border in the final package.

Biden called on Congress to pass additional legislation to further national security interests and reforms.

The president emphasized the importance of completing these actions promptly.

The signing of the legislation signifies a significant moment in Capitol Hill’s annual appropriations process marred by partisan disagreements and leadership changes.

This legislation is the second part of government funding, following a six-bill package signed earlier this month.
