The annual Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce expo, themed “Under the Big Top,” will be taking place at Downstream Casino Resort on Wednesday. This event, in its 31st year, has completely sold out of exhibitor space and is expecting over 1,300 visitors throughout the day.
The expo is split into two segments: Business-to-business hours from 9 a.m. to noon with free admission for those holding a business card, and business-to-consumer hours from noon to 4 p.m. with a $5 admission fee (children 5 and under enter for free). Erin Slifka, the director of marketing and communications for the chamber, stated that over 100 businesses will be present, including several new businesses that have never exhibited before.
The decision to change the expo from a two-day event to a single day was made to ensure a positive experience for both exhibitors and visitors. One-day expos streamline the process and make it easier for businesses to showcase their products and services to potential customers.
In preparation for the event, businesses are going all out with decorations and dressing up for the circus theme. New exhibitors such as The Independent Living Center and Née Spa are excited to use the theme as a creative opportunity to draw attention to their services.
John Tullis, the owner of Home Pro, emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses in Joplin. His company has been around since 1990 and will be showcasing its wide range of home improvement services at the expo. Downstream Casino Resort is the presenting sponsor of the event, further adding to the excitement and draw of the expo.
The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce expo is a vibrant display of community and business support. As the businesses come together under one metaphorical “big top,” it serves as a reminder of the strength and unity of the Joplin business community. With its rich history and diverse range of businesses, the expo is an opportunity for businesses and visitors to connect and engage with each other, ultimately bringing a positive impact to the local economy.
Overall, the expo promises to be a fantastic event for both businesses and consumers alike, showcasing the best that the Joplin business community has to offer. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to connect, discover new businesses, and support the local economy.
