Cleartrip Continues to Attract More Travel Agents for Its Agency Business

Cleartrip’s agency Business is experiencing rapid growth, indicating its increasing influence in the online travel sector in India.

India’s leading online travel agency, Cleartrip, has reported a 40% increase in travel agent partners in 2023 compared to 2022. The company’s business-to-business platform, Agentbox 2.0, saw a four-fold increase in business volume in 2023, showcasing its expanding presence in the market.

Agentbox 2.0: Cleartrip’s agency business platform provides travel agents with a comprehensive solution for booking flights, hotels, and holiday packages. It enables agents to earn commissions, create sub-agents, and grow their businesses effectively.

Cleartrip achieved a 70% growth in monthly agent transactions and onboarded over 5,000 agents in fiscal 2022, establishing itself as the fastest-growing agency network in India. The company’s reach extended to more than 27 cities by May 2023.



Cleartrip on Indian market: In a recent episode of the Skift India Travel Podcast, Cleartrip CEO Ayyappan Rajagopal shared the company’s vision to transform into a travel superapp. To capitalize on India’s travel potential, Cleartrip also launched a corporate travel booking tool for organizations.

AirAsia Planning to Increase Malaysia’s Connectivity to Smaller Indian Cities

Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia aims to enhance connectivity between Malaysia and tier 2 and 3 cities in India. With 14 existing routes between the countries, AirAsia plans to expand its network in India further, including the launch of three new routes to Kuala Lumpur in 2024.

India holds a significant position as a source market for Malaysia, with Indian tourist arrivals doubling in 2023 compared to the previous year. The recent visa-free entry for Indians in Malaysia is expected to further boost tourism between the two countries.

Lemon Tree Hotels Signs Two New Properties

Lemon Tree Hotels has signed agreements for two new properties – Sankhwas Garh in Rajasthan with 51 keys and Keys Lite by Lemon Tree Hotels in Vijayawada with 44 rooms. Both hotels are scheduled to open in 2026, aligning with the company’s strategy to target the growing middle-class segment in India across tier 1, 2, and 3 cities.

Tripura Government Focusing on Boosting Tourism Sector

The Tripura government is actively working on enhancing the tourism sector, focusing on infrastructure development and attracting more visitors to the state. Initiatives like the beautification of Jagannath Dighi and modernization of the Bhadarghat railway station aim to position Tripura as a preferred travel destination.

With a notable increase in tourist footfall in 2022 and substantial investments in tourism infrastructure, Tripura is poised to emerge as a prominent tourism hub in the region.

Cygnett Hotels and Resorts Planning Aggressive Pan-India Expansion

Cygnett Hotels and Resorts are set to undertake an aggressive expansion across India in 2024. With a focus on regions with high tourism potential, including Northeast India, the group aims to have 33 operational hotels by the end of the year. The company’s recent success in the midscale hospitality segment reflects its commitment to growth and quality service.

Air Mauritius to Operate Between Chennai, Mauritius From April 2024

Air Mauritius will resume flights between Chennai and Mauritius starting April 13, 2024, marking the carrier’s return to Chennai after a four-year hiatus. With India being a key market for Mauritius, the airline’s decision to enhance connectivity is expected to further boost tourism between the two countries.
