Bank of America Collaborates with Boys & Girls Club of Augusta for 3rd Annual Play It Forward Clinic

Augusta, Georgia is kicking off its busiest two weeks of the year with the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and the 90th edition of the Masters Tournament. For the third consecutive year, kids from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta had the opportunity to learn about golf from some of the sport’s best players. The goal of the event is to inspire young people from BGCGA to not only learn the game of golf, but also important life skills and lessons.

This unique opportunity was made possible through a partnership between Bank of America, Augusta National Women’s Amateur, and BGCGA. Marissa Smith, Marketing Executive for Bank of America Augusta, expressed her hope that the event would inspire the kids to get hands-on experience with golf and learn from the women players present.

World Golf Hall of Famer and Legendary Professional Golfer Annika Sorenstam returned to Augusta for her second Play it Forward Clinic. Sorenstam, who has won a remarkable 90 international tournaments, believes in sharing her passion for golf with the next generation.

The Play it Forward Clinic also featured some of the most talented golfers participating in this year’s Women’s Amateur, including Megha Ganne, Kiara Romero, Latanna Stone, Megan Schofill, Rachel Kuehn, and Amari Avery. These players shared their love for the game and the valuable lessons and friendships golf has brought into their lives.

In addition to honing their golf skills, the players at the clinic also talked about the importance of being role models for the youth. Megha Ganne emphasized the importance of embracing challenges and enjoying the game, while Suzy Whaley, former president of the PGA of America, highlighted the significance of having role models to inspire greatness in others.

The 2024 Play it Forward Golf Clinic was attended by nearly 30 kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Augusta, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best in the sport. This initiative continues to inspire young people to not only excel in golf but also in life, thanks to the support of Bank of America and the First Tee of Augusta.
