A strip club in Denver’s south side, PT’s Showclub, has agreed to close for two weeks in January following an undercover police investigation that found evidence of prostitution. The club will be closed from January 2nd to January 15th as part of an agreement reached with the City Attorney’s Office.
The investigation, which took place on March 31st, resulted in the arrest of a dancer who offered to engage in sexual activity with an undercover police officer for $600. In addition, a second dancer was arrested for inappropriate behavior with a uniformed officer during the operation.
As part of the agreement, PT’s Showclub must ban two former dancers involved in prostitution, require its manager to undergo training on human trafficking, and implement video surveillance of all private dance areas. The city has warned that any further violations within the next year will result in a 20-day closure.
This settlement comes after RCI Hospitality Holdings, a Houston-based company, purchased PT’s and four other strip clubs in Denver in 2021. The company has not commented on the agreement.
The City Attorney’s Office has stated that this is the first time in the 17 years since PT’s Showclub has been in operation that it has faced allegations of this nature. The office believes that the terms of the agreement will effectively prevent future violations.
In addition to improving surveillance, PT’s Showclub will implement a policy prohibiting dancers from bringing purses into private areas, making it harder for them to store condoms. The club has also made changes to its private dance areas to ensure better visibility for managers.
The history of this strip club includes multiple undercover operations by DPD’s Vice Team since the March sting operation, with no new violations discovered. This information played a role in the City Attorney’s Office’s decision to approve the proposed settlement.
