Five people killed in individual car accidents in Armagh and Newry.

Five people tragically lost their lives in separate road crashes in County Armagh and Newry in County Down. The driver and three passengers in Armagh, who have yet to be formally identified, were declared dead at the scene on the Ballynahonemore Road. In Newry, a pedestrian in his 40s died after being hit by a car on the Forkhill Road. The community is reeling from these devastating losses.

PSNI District Commander Supt Paul McGrattan described the incidents as “unspeakable tragedies” and expressed the police service’s heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. A thorough investigation is now underway to determine the causes of these accidents.

DUP MLA William Irwin expressed shock over the loss of four young lives in the Armagh crash, stating that the car hit a tree and burst into flames. The entire community is mourning this profound loss. Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins also offered her condolences to the pedestrian’s family and urged anyone with information to come forward.

The police are still at the scene, and the Ballynahonemore Road remains closed. The Collision Investigation Unit is seeking information from witnesses to piece together what happened. The tragic events serve as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving.
