The Jamestown boys basketball program has a rich history of success in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association final four. In 2011, they made their first appearance, followed by trips in 2014 and 2022. Billy Miley, who has been a key figure in the program for years, now leads the team as head coach for the first time.

Miley, a former player at Jamestown High, initially planned to become an engineer after graduation in 1999. However, his passion for coaching and dedication to the team led him to succeed the legendary Ben Drake as head coach. Under Miley’s leadership, the Red & Green have achieved a 21-4 record and a No. 11 ranking in the state.

With a strong emphasis on defense and a balanced offense, Jamestown has secured impressive victories in the Section VI playoffs to reach the NYSPHSAA Class AA semifinal against Elmont Memorial. Miley’s coaching style, alongside assistant coach Marty Stockwell, has proven successful in guiding the team to the state tournament.

Key players for Jamestown include junior Jaydian Johnson, sophomore Dominic Gonzalez, and senior Greg Brumagin, who have been instrumental in the team’s success. Facing a tough opponent in Elmont Memorial, Miley remains confident in his team’s abilities to compete at a high level and potentially secure a spot in the championship game.

The winner of the semifinal will advance to the title game, where Jamestown aims to continue its journey towards success. Miley’s focus on setting high standards and goals for his players reflects his commitment to pushing them to exceed expectations and strive for greatness.
