A British triathlete, India Lee, emerged victorious in the T100 triathlon series, securing the top spot in the women’s race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Lee’s impressive performance saw her finish ahead of fellow British athletes Lucy Charles-Barclay and Holly Lawrence.
The grueling race consisted of a 2km swim, an 80km bike leg, and an 18km run on the racetrack oval. Lee, 35, crossed the finish line with a time of 3 hours 27 minutes and 12 seconds, edging out Charles-Barclay by 30 seconds.
Denmark’s Magnus Ditlev claimed victory in the men’s category with a time of 3 hours 9 minutes and 8 seconds. Despite leading in the run, two-time Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee of Britain finished fifth, with American Sam Long in second place and Mathis Margirier of France taking third.
Reflecting on her win, Lee expressed her pride in achieving a strong performance in all aspects of the race. Ditlev, on the other hand, highlighted the challenges of dealing with the heat throughout the competition.
Both Lee and Ditlev walked away with $25,000 from the event’s total prize fund of $250,000. The T100 series, launched by the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and World Triathlon, offers a unique racing format with distances falling between standard Ironman and Olympic distances.
With seven races leading up to the Grand Final in November, the T100 series promises an exciting season ahead for triathlon enthusiasts.
