Report highlights challenges faced by autistic individuals during job interviews

Adam Murphy, a full-time carer for his autistic son, has faced challenges in finding employment due to difficulties with application forms. The Buckland review highlights the potential of autistic individuals in the workforce and presents 19 recommendations for businesses and the government to collaborate on.

Businesses like Cafe Track in Northampton and CubeLynx in Central London are leading examples of supporting autistic individuals in the workplace. Thomas Cliffe, the founder of Cafe Track, stresses that hiring autistic employees is not just a compassionate choice, but also a smart business decision. Darcey Isaacs, an autistic employee at CubeLynx, emphasizes the value of reasonable adjustments in creating a safe and inclusive work environment.

Dr. James Cusack of research charity Autistica emphasizes the importance of changing recruitment processes to support all employees, including autistic individuals. Sir Robert Buckland highlights the need for inclusive interview processes to identify neurodiverse individuals who may not realize they fall under this category.
