Focus Entertainment has reported a 43% decrease in third-quarter earnings, citing a lack of major releases during the period ending December 31. This decline is partially attributed to the absence of significant game launches. The company has also announced that it will be rebranding to Pullup Entertainment on April 1.
The earnings report shows that the total revenue for the quarter was €43.3 million, a 43% decrease compared to the previous year. However, back catalogue revenue saw a significant increase of 45% year-on-year, reaching €29.5 million. The firm noted that its titles, including Insurgency: Sandstorm, A Plague Tale: Requiem, SnowRunner, and Atomic Heart, drove revenue activity during the period.
In addition, the report highlighted the establishment of a new audiovisual production play from Scripteam, which contributed to the period’s revenue. Focus Entertainment stated that 84% of the Group’s sales were made via digital partners, with international sales accounting for 95% of the total revenue in the third quarter.
Looking ahead, Pullup Entertainment will consist of three core Business divisions: Focus Entertainment Publishing, the Arcade Crew, and its developer studios. The rebranded Focus Entertainment Publishing, led by deputy managing director John Bert, will focus on independent titles and retrogaming. The Arcade Crew, overseen by CEO of Dotemy and deputy managing director Cyrille Imbert, will continue its operations. The developer studios division will include various studios such as Deck13, Streumon, and Twelve Tenths.
Furthermore, the upcoming game launch, Banishers: Ghost of New Eden, developed by Don’t Nod, is set for release in the fourth quarter on February 13.
Historically, Focus Entertainment has been a prominent player in the gaming industry, known for its successful game titles and contributions to the video game market. With the rebranding to Pullup Entertainment, the company is aiming to strengthen its position and diversify its offerings.
By repositioning itself with a new identity and a strong focus on core business divisions, Pullup Entertainment is poised to make a significant impact in the gaming industry moving forward. With a history of delivering quality game titles and a reinvigorated approach to its operations, the company is well-positioned for future success.
