“Access Health CT Assists with Health Insurance Enrollment Ahead of Jan. 15 Deadline – NBC Connecticut”

The deadline to enroll for Health and dental insurance through the state’s official health insurance marketplace is quickly approaching, with the last day being Monday, January 15. In response to this, Access Health CT has been hosting enrollment fairs throughout the state, with the most recent fair taking place at The Hector Figueroa Labor Center in Hartford.

At these fairs, enrollment specialists have been assisting individuals in finding the right health plan, while Hartford HealthCare has been offering free cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. In addition, health experts have been providing resources and education focused on food and nutrition.

One individual from West Hartford praised the fairs, stating “I think this is a great thing for the community and for people who really need it.”

Karen Perez, Outreach Community Manager with Access Health CT, noted that many individuals tend to wait until the last minute to enroll, as the holidays often consume their time and attention.

However, Perez emphasized that there is still time to enroll, even for those who did not attend the most recent fair. Enrollment can be done online or by contacting the call center, which operates from 8 a.m. to midnight. Furthermore, support is available for undocumented families, with the Husky program and Covered Connecticut offering no-cost coverage options throughout the year.

Mary Elizabeth Smith, of Make the Road CT, highlighted the importance of providing access to healthcare for all individuals, regardless of their immigration status. Smith mentioned that “Everybody needs to be able to go to the doctor. Everybody needs to have access to mental health. Everybody needs to have access to all of these different things, just to keep our bodies safe.”

It is important to note that those who enroll by the January 15 deadline will have coverage beginning on February 1.

The history of health insurance in the United States has seen various changes and developments over the years, with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) bringing significant reforms to the healthcare system. Access Health CT was established as Connecticut’s official health insurance marketplace in response to the ACA, aiming to provide residents with access to affordable coverage options. The organization continues to play a crucial role in helping individuals enroll in health and dental insurance plans, ensuring that they have access to essential healthcare services.

In conclusion, it is imperative for individuals to take advantage of the remaining time to enroll for health and dental insurance through Access Health CT, as having coverage is vital for maintaining overall well-being and accessing necessary medical care.
