Bulls defeat Hawks 118-113 with Andre Drummond’s impressive 24-point, 25-rebound double-double

The Chicago Bulls were victorious over the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night with a final score of 118-113, helping to cool off Atlanta’s Trae Young. The Bulls played without star players Zach LaVine due to inflammation in his right foot and Nikola Vucevic who was out because of bruised muscles around his left hip and groin. Andre Drummond had season highs of 24 points and 25 rebounds in his first start of the season, while DeMar DeRozan added 25 points to secure the victory. Young finished with 21 points and 13 assists. The Bulls made enough shots to bounce back from a loss to the injury-riddled Cleveland Cavaliers. Young tied Oscar Robertson’s record of seven consecutive games with at least 30 points and 10 assists, with the Bulls being the first team to cool Young off somewhat. The Hawks lost their third game in a row.

This victory is significant as the Bulls could be down two key players for a little while, with Vucevic joining LaVine on the sideline. Coach Billy Donovan was unsure of how long Vucevic will be out, but the Bulls’ two-time All-Star had an MRI on Tuesday. Vucevic was hurt trying to defend a dunk by Cleveland’s Max Strus during the Bulls’ loss to the Cavaliers on Saturday. Strus’ right knee struck Vucevic in the groin area. Vucevic, who is averaging 16.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, missed his first game this season. He played in all 82 games last year.

The Bulls are slated to host Indiana on Thursday, while the Hawks will host Sacramento on Friday. The Bulls are now 9-4 in 13 games without LaVine this season. This win is a testament to the Bulls’ resilience as they continue to compete against the odds, securing key victories even when facing injury challenges.
