Aztecs rout Saint Katherine after shaky start; Stanford up next

The NAIA University of Saint Katherine Firebirds recently opened a basketball game against the NCAA Division I championship last season with an impressive start. However, the Firebirds ultimately lost to the Aztecs with a final score of 91-57. While the game was an opportunity for the Firebirds to stretch their legs after a 10-day break and prepare for the Pac-12’s Stanford, it resulted in injuries for two of their players, Trammell and Pal.

Despite the tough game, the Aztecs displayed impressive performance throughout, with efficient play from LeDee, Waters, Trammell, and Pal. True freshman Heide also showcased a productive game, with 7 rebounds in just 12 minutes on the court. Additionally, the Aztecs dominated the boards, with a 50-25 edge over the Firebirds and 19-2 in second-chance points.

While the Firebirds aimed to make a comeback in the second half, the Aztecs’ continued dominance resulted in a final score of 91-57.

Moving forward, the Aztecs are gearing up to face Stanford at home on Thursday, and the team looks poised to continue their success on the court. Despite this impressive win, the Aztecs stand poised as they aim to maintain their momentum throughout the rest of their season.
