Thalia Hall gastropub Dusek’s to close at year’s end

After a decade of serving award-winning food and hosting talented artists and friends, the Michelin-starred gastropub Dusek’s Tavern in Pilsen has announced it will be closing at the end of the year. The tavern, named after Thalia Hall builder John Dusek, will conclude its run with a New Year’s Eve dinner service.

Located at 1227 W. 18th St., Dusek’s prided itself in offering a culinary journey inspired by traditional tavern fare. Its two-story location in Thalia Hall, modeled after the Prague Opera House, attracted a loyal following over the years. Dusek’s earned a prestigious Michelin star in 2016 and was restored by the hospitality group 16″ On Center in 2013.

Although Dusek’s will be closing, Thalia Hall, Tack Room, and Punch House will remain open, giving patrons more reasons to continue visiting the historic Pilsen landmark.

In response to Dusek’s closing, Thalia Hall has announced plans for a “two-story addition and outdoor cafe,” aiming to expand the already popular venue. This announcement sparked curiosity about what the future holds for this historic location.

Finkelman, one of the partners involved in the restoration of Thalia Hall, expressed gratitude for the support and the incredible journey of Dusek’s, acknowledging the talented individuals who breathed life into the establishment.

As Dusek’s prepares to bid farewell, the restaurant is inviting patrons to enjoy a prix fixe menu crafted by executive chef Geoff Thompson on New Year’s Eve, giving loyal customers a last chance to savor the tavern’s distinct culinary offerings.

Despite the closure of Dusek’s Tavern, the impact it has made on Pilsen and the Chicago culinary scene is undeniable. It leaves behind a legacy of fine dining and community that will be remembered for years to come.
