Hawaiian Airlines to Launch Direct Flight Between Salt Lake City and Honolulu
Salt Lake City, UT – Hawaiian Airlines has announced its newest direct flight offering, connecting Salt Lake City to Honolulu, with flights set to begin on May 15. The airline’s CEO, Peter Ingram, described the route as connecting two “iconic” destinations, particularly appealing to outdoor enthusiasts.
The decision to add Salt Lake City as the airline’s 16th “gateway city” was influenced by the shared appreciation of the outdoors between Utah and Hawaii, as well as the presence of Brigham Young University’s Hawaii campus and a growing population of Pacific Islanders in Utah. This new route comes amid the Salt Lake City Airport’s expansion, which is expected to see a record number of passengers in 2023 and will include 16 new gates in concourse B by late 2026.
“We think there’s a lot of demand for convenient service on a nonstop basis, and we’re happy to provide it,” said Ingram.
Bill Wyatt, executive director of Salt Lake City International Airport, expressed enthusiasm for the new route, stating, “Hawaii is not only a favorite destination for Utahns to vacation, but is also a popular location for family members to visit.”
This new offering provides an alternative for travelers to and from Hawaii in addition to the existing direct flights operated by Delta Airlines. With its focus on connecting two outdoor-centric destinations, the new route is expected to appeal to both leisure and business travelers.
