Salford City, a League Two side owned by the Class of 92, is seeking outside investment to fuel its aspirations of reaching the Championship. The club, co-owned by Manchester United legends David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, and Gary and Phil Neville, has attracted interest following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent investment in Manchester United.
Over the past decade, Salford City has made significant progress, moving up from the Northern Premier League First Division to the English Football League. The club’s Moor Lane ground has undergone redevelopment, although plans to relocate to the 12,000-capacity AJ Bell Stadium fell through in 2022.
Currently, Salford City is positioned 19th in League Two and recently suffered a 5-1 defeat to Mansfield. Despite challenges on the pitch, the club’s ownership remains dedicated to its long-term goals and is open to welcoming new investors to support its growth plans.
Nicky Butt, now serving as Salford’s chief executive, expressed confidence in the club’s future, stating, “We have achieved significant milestones at Salford City, but we see great opportunities ahead. By bringing in strategic partners, we aim to realize our ambitious vision for the club and its community.”
As Salford City continues to strive for success on and off the field, the prospect of climbing to the Championship remains a key objective for the club and its ownership group.
